Architects at BIG indeed have dreamed up a remarkable design for this new under construction centerpiece in Tianjin, China. Not only is the terracing shape inspired by the Rockefeller Center, one of New York's finest Art Deco towers, it also intends to break open the usual barriers between buildings by opening space up for roof terraces and gardens.
This is a thrilling idea, especially for a tower that high, as larger skyscrapers can appear somewhat allienating and overwhelming with their ultra-large surfaces of steel and glass. So it is a welcome inclusion to allow the facade to be an open space.
