Final designs of the new contender for the world's tallest structure have been revealed recently. Already in planning for several years, Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill have unveiled their vision of a tower that for the first time in human history will break through the one kilometer mark. The final height of the building is not set in stone yet, it will, however, be a minimum of 1000 meters (3280 feet), and with that at least a considerable 173 meters (568 feet) taller than Burj Khalifa, the current world's tallest. 


Construction is expected to begin later this year and is estimated to last five to six years. For more pictures and info about this thrilling project click here. 

Construction has been completed on the Cubus tower in Hong Kong.

This mixed use building features an interesting facade structure and lighting at night. The design is inspired by the 20th century art movement 'cubism'.

This fantastic and fascinating project of a desert lodge resort carved into the rocks of the Valley Of The Moon in Jordan won first prize in the design competition and comes from Oppenheim studio. 

What is remarkable about this design is that it blends into the surrounding landscape naturally, respecting its shapes and rather enhance than obscure or disturb them, while at the same time be very modern and distinct.

Construction of this new complex in central Abu Dhabi is progressing well and is slated for completion later this year. The historic Abu Dhabi Central Market is re-developed with a high street shopping mall on the ground level and three distinctive towers rising out and above it.

The towers feature a strong reflective cladding in of wavy shapes and will have multiple functions: residences, offices and a hotel.
